YIEK - das mag nicht der konventionellste Name sein, aber einer, der das, was Malte, Andy, Aram und Jens machen, am besten beschreibt - Rocken bis zur Rückkopplung und darüber hinaus. Gleichzeitig ist es ein Tribut an die Anfangstage, in der Andys kaputte 69er-Stratocaster irre Feedbacks fabrizierte. YIEK ist die lautmalerische Entsprechung des ear-plug-zerfetzenden Proberaumgeräuschs. Die Vier fanden schnell heraus, dass sie trotz oder wegen ihrer unterschiedlichen Persönlichkeiten eine ganz spezielle musikalische Energie erzeugen. Und die entsteht meist spontan: "Hey Aram, gib mal 'n Beat!" ruft Malte oft bloß - und alle steigen mit ein. Maximale Heftigkeit bei gleichzeitiger Eingängigkeit sind die Markenzeichen des YIEK-Sounds, der durch Maltes Stimme unverwechselbar wird. Das knallt am besten live. Dabei ist es egal, ob 10 oder 1000 Leute vor der Bühne stehen - wo YIEK auftritt, feiern alle 'ne Party. Band und Publikum vermischen sich dabei und manchmal kommt es zu spontanen Ausziehaktionen, wobei Andy schon mal vor lauter umherfliegenden Klamotten seine Verzerrer Stompbox nicht mehr findet. Das einzig Vorhersehbare bei den Shows von YIEK ist, dass Unvorhergesehenes passiert.

In the interview, guitarist Andy really captured it in a nutshell: "When we come through the boxes, you immediately go and buy a round and stand below the only spotlight in the club." YIEK sounds as if Danko Jones is celebrating a backstage party with Queens of The Stone Age and it appears like the feeling that overcomes you when you get caught crossing the red traffic light." The four guys met by chance at a New Year's Eve party, at which it got very hot: the waiter caught fire and the house had to be evacuated - such an experience creates a strong bond.

YIEK - this may not be the most conventional name, yet, it explains best what Malte, Andy, Aram and Jens do - they rock until they drop. At the same time, it is a tribute to the initial stage, in which Andy's shattered Stratocaster from 1969 produced weird feedbacks. YIEK is the onomatopoeic equivalent for the earplug-shredding rehearsal room noise. The four guys quickly noticed that they produced a special musical energy, despite or even because of their different personalities. And this mostly emerges spontaneously: "Hey Aram, give me a beat!", Malte just calls sometimes - and all of them step in. The characteristics of the YIEK-sound are a maximal intensity with a simultaneous catchiness, which is unique through Malte's voice. This especially bangs live. And it doesn't matter whether there are 10 or 1,000 people listening: when YIEK performs, everyone joins in and celebrates. The band and the audience blend together and sometimes, there even are spontaneous undress-actions whereby Andy sometimes can't find his distortion stompbox because of all the flying clothes. The only thing that can be predicted at a YIEK show is that unforeseen events will take place.
