Wide Eyed Boy are a new wave indie-pop band from Liverpool with German roots making waves with their energetic and anthemic sound.

Two parts British, one part German and one part Australian, this four-piece take their adopted home’s heritage seriously - from the internationalist culture of the city, to its inevitable musical lineage.

Oliver Nagy (Vocals), Jonny Ball (Guitars), Kobi Pham (Guitars) and Tom Taylor (Drums) met at McCartney’s LIPA, an institution that is rapidly carving itself out as a hotbed of new musical talent, most recently unearthing artists such as Frances and Dan Croll. The band would find themselves bonding over a shared love of Michael Jackson, Bowie and modern Liverpool cult favourites like The Wombats, The Zutons and Circa Waves before deciding to decamp to Budapest to write new songs. One of which is ‘Loving You Is So Easy’, a snarling, stomping and swirling 3 minutes of bass-heavy, funk-influenced rock n roll.

The sophomore track taken from their recent songwriting trip - produced by fellow Liverpool resident Rich Turvey (Cabbage, Blossoms, Darlia) - Taylor suggests the track is “About how people become selfish when it comes to love“.

Their potent, polished sound screams of a young band in full flush– a swaggering track to introduce what’s sure to be a one to watch in the coming months.
