The Queen EP | EP | 2014 |
Both third culture kids, they met while at school in Sri Lanka although their musical collaboration didn't start until they had both finished University. They first started playing and writing original material together in 2013, after performing a few covers together at a charity concert in August 2012. Since forming the band they have been playing at small venues around London and Oxfordshire, and have performed on the same bill as Iain Archer, Rory Butler, Luke Sital-Singh and Steve Apirana. They have also had great success playing at festivals such as Folk Weekend Oxford and Greenbelt.
Their songs use simple guitar riffs and vocal harmonies combined with percussive instruments such as cajon and glockenspiel to create emotive and evocative music, usually with a melancholic edge. Inspirations include artists like Sufjan Stevens, The Paper Kites, Bright Eyes, Fionn Regan and Bon Iver.
