Heavily influenced by 80's synth and new wave artists, Jean Michel Jarre, Kraftwerk, Detroit Techno, soundscape artists, early era New Beat, the person we now know as DJ Vandervoort really started out in 1989 when a friend came back from the USA armed with a small stack of records and he caught the electronic music virus.

He subsequently spent hours recording mixes
off the airwaves, shopping for the latest tunes of the day at stores such as Velvet, Boudisque, Rhythm Import, Hotmix, Hardwax, USA Import, Midtown Records, Rough Trade, Important . As his collection expanded so did his interest in dj-ing, owning his first pair of decks in 1990 to learn the fine art of seducing a dancefloor. This opened up doors engaging with like-minded creative people, DJs, visual artists and producers. Came 1993 an already eclectic record collection was a fact and so were the first steps on the club circuit.

A small selection of places played in no particular order over the years 1993-current:
Various warehouse raves in Holland, Belgium, Germany
Jazzmatazz, Leiden, Holland
Club 70, Leiden, Holland
Poort Bar, Leiden, Holland (resident 1999-2004)

Recently, after a far too long spell out for personal reasons he is now ready to reclaim his place again. The exiled Dutchman now spins a genre-defiant blend of techno, house, mind bending ambient and electronica with some rarities thrown to keep trainspotters happy. “My DJing is all about taking that journey to places the listener has not necessarily been before; open people's minds to other music and artists” says the man who gained praise for his out of the box delivery and impeccable taste in music.
