Matt Coleman (songwriter) wanted to concentrate on his original songs and is now joined by Leon Welsh (lead singer), Chris 'Snakey' Dearing (lead guitar), Michael Jackson (bass) and drummer Rupert 'Roddy' Waldron.

In January they were messaged by a top London promotion company. Token Joker were booked as main support band in March 2014 at the O2 Academy Islington. In May the band played The Water Rats, Kings Cross in the company of The Tricks (Jonny Depp's favourite band who he took to L A to sign), The Beaches - an all-female Indie/Rock band from Canada, who recently opened a gig for Kings of Leon, and London band Swan Fight. In June, End of the Trail Records asked them to play PROUD Camden and asked the band to play a gig at The Great Escape Festival in Brighton. Other London gigs are always in the pipeline and in September 2014, they were booked again at The Water Rats as main support to Indie cult band The Others who themselves supported OASIS on tour. They have recently played a great show at Hoxton Underbelly, supporting The Blue Aeroplanes. They were featured as one of the main bands headlining the Oxjam Exeter Takeover in October 2014, and were one of only three bands to be featured for the Oxjam event by none other than the major online Music Magazine ARTROCKER!

Twitter has been phenomenal! This has been helped in a massive way by a pure 'chance' meeting with none other than Matt Bellamy, MUSE'S front man. Matt paid them the courtesy of taking time out to listen to a couple of their tracks. He liked what he heard and was more than happy to pose for a picture with lead singer Leon Welsh, also offering encouragement and support in what the band are trying to do. This was tweeted on the band page and re-tweeted by Matt Bellamy and the response and tweets have poured in from around the world. What is really pleasing are the tweets praising the songs, and wanting to see Token Joker play live. This is exactly the reason why the band has made the decision to concentrate on their own material and completely justifies the total belief they have with their own songs. Legendary Scottish band Del Amitri is a recent follower of Token Joker, and there have been some great comments from other followers with massive followings from across the spectrum.

Token Joker has been played on national and international radio stations as far afield as South Africa, Canada and America! They have featured in local radio interviews including Jackson Cooper’s Riviera Showcase. At the beginning of October 2014, the band was invited by host, James Santer, to play a live session for BBC Introducing Devon and was a featured interview along with signed band London Grammar.

The band are now looking to produce an EP in February 2015 with major music producer Paul Reeve, who has been part of producing several MUSE albums. The band are confident that their brilliant live shows will be seen on the big festival stages throughout 2015, something which BBC Introducing eluded to.

Other Info:

The band are well supported in London gigs, and have taken a coach of followers to some gigs. Interestingly, they have had great comments from Brighton fans of The Others, especially after their last Water Rats gig.
