David Cuesta (guitarra, vocalista y excomponente de Oblique) inició este proyecto en Barcelona. Establecido ya en su Tenerife natal, completó la formación del grupo junto a Marcos Hernández (bajo), Enrique Dâlu (batería) y Dayana Febles (teclado, percusión, coros).

La carrera de The Weeird se inició en el otoño de 2015, cuando sus componentes comenzaron a reunirse para explorar sonidos diferentes para cada una de las canciones que iban componiendo.

Los riffs guitarreros, una voz grave y melódica, la esencia del bajo marcada por los intensos toques de batería y el envolvente sonido de un brillante sintetizador crean una atmosfera que los hace singulares, recordando a los sonidos característicos de los 80 y 90 de oscuras texturas que se mezclan con melodías propias de la new wave y el post-punk.

Su primer concierto tuvo lugar en el certamen Hard Rock Rising 2016, que organiza el Hard Rock Café de Tenerife. Seguidamente continuaron actuando en directo en locales emblemáticos de la isla, como el Café Quilombo de La Orotava o el Búho Club de La Laguna.

En ese mismo año de 2016 fueron invitados al Elite Festival, donde compartieron cartel con bandas consagradas como Fuel Fandango y Oblique, entre otras. Su primera actuación en Santa Cruz de Tenerife tuvo lugar en El Hombre Bala Rock & Coffee, que sirvió para que su sello los fichara. También formaron parte del cartel del Festival de Músicas Alternativas de Canarias.

En 2017 actuaron en el concierto benéfico El Hombre Bala Records Store Day!, en el Ocean Club de Santa Cruz de Tenerife, y en el Merkarte de Puerto de la Cruz, compartiendo cartel con Resonance. Su último gran evento en directo hasta ahora se produjo, el pasado mes de septiembre, ante casi 4.000 personas y abriendo el concierto de Fangoria en el Music Market Festival de Puerto de la Cruz.

En agosto de 2017 se lanzó su disco de debut, un mini-álbum titulado In the Garden que fue grabado en Guamasa Estudios y publicado por el sello discográfico El Hombre Bala Records.

A partir de finales de octubre, las canciones del In the Garden comienzan a sonar en varios programas de Radio 3-Radio Nacional de España.

The Weeird is a post-punk/ new wave band based in Tenerife. It is strongly influenced by the Madchester scene of the 90´s.

David Cuesta (frontman and former member of Oblique), started this project in Barcelona in 2014. Once settled in Tenerife, he completed the band with Marcos Hernandez (bass), Enrique Dàlu (drums) and Dayana Febles (keyboard, percussion and chorus)

At the end of 2015, the band started to meet to explore new sounds in every composition.

Guitar riffs, a grave and melodious voice, the effect of the bass together with the drums beats and the wrapping sound of the bright synthesizer, contributes to create an intense atmosphere that makes the band unique and able to take us back to the 80´s cultural movement and reminds us of the dark sounds of new wave and post- punk.

The band’s first live gig was held at Hard Rock, in Tenerife, as part of the Hard Rock Rising Contest. Then, it followed outnumbered live shows in some of the most popular concert halls in the island.

In 2016, they were at Elite Festival where they shared the stage with top Spanish bands as Fuel Fandango and Oblique. Also, they were included to play at the FMAC (Alternative Music Festival of Canary Islands)

The first gig as part of the underground scene took place at "El Hombre Bala" bar, in the capital city: Santa Cruz. That was enough for Julio Delgado, the owner, to include The Weeird in his catalogue of indie local bands to be promoted. Soon after that, the band signed to "El Hombre Bala Records", the only independent record company of the island.

In 2017, The Weeird performed at the charity event "El Hombre Bala Record Store Day", at the "Ocean Club", in Santa Cruz and at "Merkarte", a music festival promoted by the Island Council, in Puerto de la Cruz, altogether with top Dj and producer Resonance.

In a non - stop ascending career onstage, The Weeird opened the Music Market Festival in Puerto de la Cruz, as support band for the relevant and renowned Spanish band Fangoria, before an audience of more than 4,000 people.

Their first EP, "In the garden" was released last August 2017. It was recorded in “Guamasa Estudios" and published by El Hombre Bala Records.

The songs included in "In the garden" are recently starting to be played in some of the most representative national radio stations, as "Disco Grande" and "Hoy empieza todo", in Radio 3.
