The band was formed in 2012 by long term friends, drummer Jay Rawson, vocalist Shinny Ranks & guitarist/ producer
Chat One, the three found common musical ground & proceeded to write their first songs together, in 2013 the group expanded to five members &
within a few months they were gigging around Sheffield & starting to build a rep for their hard driven funk/soul drenched sounds
with the occasional twist of hip hop verses that never failed to get a crowd hyped up.After a string of gigs the band took time out to record some of their first material solely for demo purposes
such as tracks like 'Closer to Gold' & 'Soulcrates', although these early recordings were fairly limited they captured the raw essence of their music well.
Upon changing their members in 2014 & expanding once again to a six piece band, the new line up now teamed up on writing new material & getting set to start
performing live again, this time with a much more complete sound & drawing from different influences ranging from disco to rare groove soul and even elements of drum and bass and breaks can be heard, and also making the executive decision to leave the old hip hop crossover sound out.
They describe their style as "Musical time travel, explored by frequent party people" and those not knowing what to expect from The Soulcrates Syndicate
won't be disappointed if they are fans of good, soulful & uplifting music.
