Coined in 2015 by Vive Le Rock magazine as part of the 'New Mod' generation with their track Reverent Son being part of a special compilation on the magazines cover CD. The Middens take influences from bands and artists spanning five decades. For their sound, think Libertines meets The Clash with a hint of The Who. They write and play way beyond their teenage years, and are now being recognised for their vibrant and energetic live shows having a growing fan base and being invited to play Great Escape Festival, Tramlines, Stone Valley as well as other festivals in their native north east England. September 2015 sees them playing with new wave legends Penetration, and around the country on a few dates supporting The Spitfires, Stone Foundation as well as hosting their own headline dates.
