The Grenaways describe their sound as “In the folk music genre, but none are true folkies (apart from maybe Laura who grew up on Lindisfarne).

So they feel free to interpret folk music from a number of different angles. The results tend to be quite a unique mix of influences in the folk style, with definite nautical undertones. They just love this style because it has a rich tradition in Cornwall where it has always been the music of the people, influenced so much by the sea and coastal living. In some ways it’s the original dance music too, and gives us huge scope to write about everything from the romantic to the downright jiggy!”

They are rootsy story tellers, and their unique, alternative and massive sound has found them playing some of Cornwall’s biggest festival stages alongside the likes of The Fisherman’s Friends [Sundowner Session - Lusty Glaze / Tall Ships Regatta - Falmouth], Fairport Convention [Millendreath Festival], 3 Daft Monkeys [Millendreath Festival], Stereo MC’s [Heartlands Live] and the Happy Mondays [Heartlands Live]. But, remaining true to their heart you will often find them playing in cafes, bars and folk clubs, with their sound and songs stripped back to how they were originally written…a guitar, a voice and a view of the ocean…
