The Contravenes are a four piece Indie Rock band from Leeds.

The band consists of:

- Denny Parker - Songwriter/Vocalist/Guitarist
- Simon Shillito - Drums
- Shaun Swallow - Lead Guitar/Songwriter
- Craig Swallow - Bass

With gnarly, fast paced, garage rock and early 00's indie inspiration combined with their own devloped sound consisting of catchy riffs, evocative/well penned lyrics and melody, as well as being four best mates who all grew up together, The Contravenes are a band set apart from other unsigned acts currently on the scene.

“A Brilliant new act - could break through into the big time - super-cool and pure rock ‘n’ roll”
- The General Music

“Epic, Workman like Indie.”
- The Yorkshire Evening Post

Having headlined shows, in their debut year, festivals and supported signed acts such as Alan Mcgee's new outfit; Alias Kid and renowned Manchester Legends Inspiral Carpets as well as Radio Play and BBC Introducing interviews, the band has begun 2016 in style, off the back of a sucessful debut year. By releasing their first offical single "I, Of The Lost" with B side on iTunes and all major music platforms on March 5th 2016 (with frequent collaborator Alan Smyth) as well as their second official music video to the title track.

With their first EP planned to be recorded in the Early Summer, big summer gigs lined up as well as a UK/European tour in talks this band is looking to triple the success of their first year.
