The Clarions, a rock/alternative rock trio from North East England, got together in early 2016. Since their demo EP was released in April 2016, they have developed their own style: a blend of alternative and traditional rock with a distinctive sound. Think Velvet Underground meets Patti Smith, with nods to Nick Cave and Galaxie 500.
The band has performed in London and across the North East, including the Surf Cafe Primavera Festival, Oxjam, and headline shows at The Cluny in Newcastle, where they have also supported other artists, such as The Filthy Tongues and Mik Artistik's Ego Trip.
BBC Introducing North East has played music by the band, and they have even had US airplay on the J Media FM radio station.
“The Clarions are a great example of how to turn pain into something beautiful [...] They are one of the most important bands in the North East at the moment, but you have to see them live to understand what I’m talking about” (Martin Metcalfe, from The Filthy Tongues, & Goodbye Mr Mackenzie)
