He recruited three fine young men to be his new backing band; he put them through a vigorous blues boot camp, educating them in his ways and turning them into the best backing band he could afford (Rumour has it he would even leave them at random crossroads in the middle of the night hoping they would make a deal). As the gigs started coming in, The Blind Dead McJones Band quickly learned an important lesson McJones himself had failed to mention, that he rarely showed up for gigs! The Boys continuously found themselves stranded at Showtime but not being ones to miss opportunities they would take to the stage and improvise. This has continued over the years with The Boys creating a sound of their own, fusing the traditional blues lessons learnt from McJones with their own youthful energy and quirky sense of humour. They now have a solid fan base across the country, a wide repertoire of original material and cover songs, a strong and entertaining live performance and are continuing to improve
Their debut album "Last Resort Mexico" was released in 2012 and recieved great acclaim as well as a nomination for "Best Original Song" at the 2013 British Blues Awards.
The new album "Everybody's Making Lemonade" is to be released in March 2015.
