They are a unique London-based progressive metal quartet with Nepalese origins who don’t intend sticking to the genre as it stands. Their debut EP ‘Divine Soil’, launched in 2012, is a five-track disc offering a foundation of earsplitting progressive metal peppered with spiritual elements.
Highlighting the band members’ Nepalese background, used as part of the track Aero is a small, one-stringed instrument called a Murchunga, commonly used in Nepal folk music. This is what Symbol of Orion is all about, thrash metal being the medium they’ve chosen as the conduit for experimenting with new ideas, their ethnic roots and broad world view allowing them the choice to expand and grow the genre.
Their shows are bright and lively as well as loud. The band sees itself as part of the audience, not just players on the stage, inviting the fans to take part in the soundscape surrounding them.
