Stick In The Wheel - Folk Live Act in London

Stick In The Wheel Short Info

Championed by XFM's John Kennedy and Tom Robinson on BBC6Music, SITW are "ripping apart the preconceptions surrounding folk music" (Clash Music) and "make Mumford & Sons sound like Roger Whittaker" (Record Collector). Personally invited by Billy Bragg to play his Leftfield stage at Glastonbury in 2016, SITW's intent is to show the raw immediacy of traditional culture, in a way that makes it relevant today.

They launched their own From Here Records imprint with a split release newpaper/download with "Later..." favourites Lynched, selling out two nights at London's Cafe Oto in May 2016. Their debut album, 2015's From Here, outsold many of its peers in the first three months. Festival dates across the country in 2016 cemented SITW's live reputation, with slots at Beautiful Days, Cambridge Folk Festival, Boomtown Fair, Larmer Tree, Sineater and Lunar festivals, plus in-stores at both Rough Trade East and West.

“A shot in the arm for contemporary folk music” The Independent

“A great live band” The Guardian

“Rich in attitude and uncompromising intent” MOJO
