Rock and Roll Weakling | EP | 2014 |
Spookyland’s debut EP, ’Rock and Roll Weakling’ received local and international praise from the likes of Rolling Stone Australia, NME and Pitchfork, who described their music as “so raw and trusting that you want to handle it with care, unlike the heart he sings about that keeps getting carelessly broken”. The band soon proved their mettle in the live arena with high profile support slots including Cold War Kids, Gary Clark Jr, Benjamin Booker, The Lemonheads and Band of Skulls.
Returning home after recording their debut album at Conor Oberst’s Nebraskan recording studio, Another Recording Company in the US, along with a stop over in Chicago to play Lollapalooza 2015, Spookyland are putting the final touches on the album due for release early 2016.
“an enviable confidence that will hopefully carry him far and wide as a vocalist, producer and performer” – NME
“An utterly magnetizing vulnerability” – Pitchfork
