‘Silences’ began as the music project of singer/songwriter Conchúr White.

After performing around the Yorkshire area of England whilst studying at the University of Leeds, Conchúr recorded a selection of demos entitled ‘Murder Your Darlings’ with Newry producer Declan Legge. The success of these demos gave Conchur the confidence to return home upon graduating to continue the relationship with Legge. As the music became more detailed and musically complex Conchúr asked childhood friends Breandán White, Christopher Harbinson, Michael Keyes and Jonathan Downing to join the project.

In less than a year, the quintet have featured on the prestigious RTE ‘Other Voices’, received airplay for their two singles on BBC Radio 1 and have performed at Ireland’s largest festival ‘Electric Picnic’. Their two EP's 'Nevernames' and 'Sister Snow' have received critical acclaim and have been hyped by the likes of Huw Stephens, Phil Taggart (BBC), Phillip King (RTE), Stuart Baille (BBC) and numerous other music blogs and websites.

*“Not just your typical indie band, Silences exude a sincere depth that can often be wanting in other upcoming artists, and reveal a maturity that is perfectly reflected in their uniquely musical sound” HUNGER MAGAZINE

“A young band with a lot of soul, beautiful songs and a lead voice in the same vein to that of Tim and Jeff Buckley.” PHILLIP KING RTE 1

“What makes ‘Nevernames’ so absorbing is its lack of pretension or needless embellishment. It’s all very natural and heartfelt, making it almost impossible not to feel involved with the song and the singer in some way. It’s refreshing to find music that has that strength of character; if they continue on along this path, the sound of Silences will be heard for a long time yet.” GOLDENPLEC **
