Shatner's Bassoon are a group of five 'maverick' improvisers.

Each member is an established improviser on the UK scene in their own right. This meeting of brilliant, twisted minds together creates a disorientating coherent experience, never failing to leave a lasting impression on the listener.

‘Shatner’s Bassoon sound like nothing you have ever heard before’ – is (unusually) no exaggeration"- Chris Parker, London Jazz News.

Shatner’s Bassoon are “wistfully romantic . . . like a monkey eating cornflakes" (The Guardian). "Shatner’s Bassoon are … being silly … be proud." (Tinderbox Festival). "the opening … is (unusually) no exaggeration" (London Jazz News) “…which continues to unsettle the listener” (Jazz Yorkshire) “…a group of musicians deconstructing composition and improvisation and developing a sound which is entirely of its moment and its surroundings.” (JY) Shatner’s Bassoon are “…remarkably beautiful … Physical[ly] … an incredible sight" (Gail Brand, BBC Jazz on 3) “… for the passive listener” (JY). Watch out for … Craig Scott … during moments of fun.” (BBC Jazz on 3) “The effect … is one of unease and perplexity.” (JY)“Prepare to have your perceptions mangled” (Jazzwize)
“…In short the only constant … is a degree of restlessness…” (London Jazz News)
