Press Commentaries:

"[..] It's quite a barren album that sounds like desolation and wilderness [..] it covers a wide range of the metal spectrum. It presents a thick emulsion of doom, progressive and post-metal. [..] As nice as post-black doom metal gets!" - Chronicles Of Chaos

"[..] The depressing musical approach has a tendency to lift you up with haunting melodies, only to have your spirit slammed back into the earth with an explosion of sound. The Black Metal played is definitely not that of its Norwegian forefathers, but a mix of Doom and Atmospheric Black Metal [..] Incredibly strong guitar work! Another mix up of styles, from acoustic ballads and jazz pieces, to relentless black metal tremolo, and even soaring heavy metal solos. [..] This, folks, is my choice for Black Metal album of the year." - Metal Storm

"[..] Once fully under way, the band perform with an oppressive mood about them implemented for the main part by down tuned cold stabbing riffs and a groove laden but seriously heavy flow. [..] Song craft, musicianship and creativity are all at a high standard here and the effortless way the band flick between beautiful and haunting melodic melodies and abrasive crushing Blackened Doom is endearing and impressive. At times the bands music is deeply anguished and desperate as well as truly dramatic in places due to some suspense filled harmonies. A thoroughly good listen then is “I - Apophänie” and an even more impressive debut album!" Destructive Music

"[..] The music is indeed mostly slow and ponderous, but with an incredibly expansive feel, and a constant underlying melancholy which stretches right through the album. Haunting, echo-tinged clean sections reminiscent of Swallow The Sun intersperse the dark proceedings, allowing each song to breathe, and adding extra dynamism to each monolithic slab of grimness. A mixture of black and doom metal could so easily be quite boring and one-dimensional, yet it never is on this debut, as the band have a seemingly diverse list of influences, and quite an imagination when it comes to creating huge, bleak soundscapes. [..] There are also passages of pounding, visceral Black/Thrash, and moments of pure, raw Black Metal which blend in perfectly with the grim proceedings. To be honest there are a lot of subtly different influences spread across this album, so sometimes it is difficult to pin the band down without referring to a list of other bands. One thing they do consistently however is create a dark, grim and epic atmosphere from the first track to the last, and they are certainly not short of ideas or creative energy. [..]" Ave Noctum
