Samuel Martins Coelho (1980) is constantly reinventing his own musical language.

His musical roots lie in classical music, but he has developed a very unique language, using the violin, guitar, electronics, the tenori-on, or any other source of sound for its realization. His work spans various genres and musical universes, from classical music to conceptual, experimental music and improvisation.
His artistic activity evolves in several projects, such as SoundMaker (winner of the Fundasound - 4th Contest of Pop Music of Guimarães, in the context of Guimarães - European Capital of Culture 2012) and El Rupe (trio jazz fusion). He also collaborates with projects such as Space Ensemble, Gnomon, Atic and has recorded several albums.
In the last few years Samuel has worked as a musical director, composer and instrumentalist with theater companies such as Teatro Experimental do Porto, Máquina Agradável, Teatro Bruto and Comédias do Minho.
Samuel also develops several projects with the communities and leads creative musical interventions for children and the general public, collaborating with various artists from other artistic areas such as dance, theater and performance, including Margarida Mestre, Manuela Ferreira, Space Ensemble.
He studied violin at the Escola Profissional Artística do Vale do Ave and at Academia Nacional Superior de Orquestra (Lisbon). He played in several orchestras, including the Orquestra do Norte and the Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa.
Samuel took part in the 2nd course of animadores musicais at Casa da Música (Porto), having worked as a facilitator in later courses. Also in the Casa da Música he participated workshops of "Soundpainting", "Sons of the Day" (Marc Ducret), "General Skills in the Class Room" (Sam Mason, Tim Steiner) and "Gamelan" (Andy Canning).
