"I saw them performing at Mama Jazz Festival in Vilnius last autumn and I thought I could challenge you to meet and listen to this mind-blowing not classifiable group" Voicu Radescu, Director Green Hours JAZZ Fest, Bucharest, Rumania
"...besorgniserregend gut." Stefan Wolf, Amusio.de, 16.09.2015
German Version below.
Safran is a German band roaming on the ridge between Experimental Folk and Jazz, a mixture of Portishead and the Beatles, John Cage and Lady Gaga. The four musicians use eight instruments to create a distinctive and extensive but always surprising sound. The multifarious voice of Klaus Schüller (v, g, sax) layers over the sometimes spheric, sometimes clear-cut foundation laid by Ben Briggmann (b), Jonathan Klein (p, sampler), Mats Niepmann (dr, sax) and Markus Richter (sax). With a strictly adhered distance to the rest of the music scene, Safran create counter-intuitive and strangely familiar compositions and songs to appease your thirst for musical progression.
