Rumours of Spring Short Info

Hailing from the West Midlands of England, Rumours of Spring play a mix of Acoustic music in the Modern Folk genre. They draw on a wide range of influences and a keen listener will find Folk, Rock, Blues and even the odd bit of Jazz finding its way into their sound. The band are currently performing a mix of both covers and originals to suit the requirements of any event.

The band was founded in the early months of 2012 following a semi-impromptu recording session between three friends over a beer or two; Rumours of Spring hit the ground running and haven’t slowed down since. Those first few months quickly built into bookings to play across the UK from Manchester, Betws-Y-Coed, Grantham, Southampton and beyond, even doing some showcase performances including a few live on radio. In addition to this, members of Rumours of Spring have been seen in support of artists such as The Bluetones and The Christians.

The latter part of 2012 saw Rumours of Spring working alongside Freaky Pug Records to produce the Drops on Glass EP, their first official recording and also saw the beginnings of their festival bookings which show no signs of slowing.

With a minimalist line-up and the occasional aid of a special guest or two, Rumours of Spring, without a doubt one of the most versatile working bands available today, have the ability to effortlessly switch from a stripped down one man, one guitar set to a blues/rock/folk ensemble boasting a huge array of instrumentation between them including acoustic guitars, upright bass, Mandolin, Flute and much more.

When soulful voices mix with silver-toned guitar rhythms, lilting flute, wailing harmonica, funked up bass and driving percussion, you end up with Rumours of Spring. Their styles are varied - Rock, Folk, Blues, anything that feels right and interests them but they always retain their individual edge and harmonics.

The early part of 2013 saw the band preparing for the year and working hard on their 2013 album release ‘After The Rain’, the anticipated final release date of which is yet to be officially released but we are assured will not be long away.

2014 was filled with as much excitement and musical madness with a second CD’s worth of songs being written and worked on, planned to be recorded this year, numerous festival bookings and a support with the Folk giants Oysterband. The year ended with a bang, quite literally, as a fairly major car accident put an end to the good run of gigging and put the band effectively on hold. Back in action now in 2015, with plenty of gigs on the way including a support slot with Mad Dog Mcrae and sporting a new and extended lineup, the band is looking to build back up to their previous heights and see where the wind takes them…
