Sweden Rock Festival Reviews - June 10th, 2017

"The icing on the cake came most unexpectedly. Closing the festival, a guy with a less known name than the time when he went on stage, Rob Tognoni, turned out to be a blues showman with superstar attributes.
Dominating the instrument as well as dominating his presence on the boards, the Australian was attracting the people from the main stage towards the tent (the tent with the best sound you'll ever find), with a set of hands that, instead of hiding weakness, they emphasized all his virtues.
Tognoni is a versatile guitarist, gives all the riffs that the blues allows, nails it every time, and always with a smile and movements so magnetic that you cannot close your mouth. The two musicians who accompany him, two young players with superpowers, are the complement that a blues guitarist needs: dynamic, versatile as their leader, perhaps not virtuous but extremely imaginative.
The night seemed to go on for no more and it turned out that we came across one of the best shows before closing. Before Saturday, about two thousand people were unaware of the existence of Tognoni. From that night, those two thousand people will surely remember his name..."

"And finally, the poster usually hides a surprise gift. And always in the the small print. That part that almost nobody looks at and requires a special magnifying glass to be able to read it. If we stick to that of the Australian, Rob Tognoni, it seems more like a Sicilian singer-songwriter, touring the island's most infamous bars, than a blues rock guitarist. Although that also represents on stage; Seems more like one of those bohemians who teach the world their virtues for their own satisfaction and for a plate of lentils, than for someone who has the obligation to pay a mortgage.
And what was so special about this scenario hunter? Well, simply that he shot us with his guitar base of riffs and incorporated solos of rock and blues, in such a fratricidal way, that you stared at death front on, looking for the trigger and the movement of so many fingers seemed to indicate that there were twenty. His musical prowess, aided by an expert rhythm section and the perfection of a powerful, electric sound, left the many curious with open mouths, added by the attraction that produced the explosions of applause after every song. He practically filled the Rockklassiker Tent.
Even looking at him produced satisfaction. His wiggle and his confident smile were contagious. But most important were those movements of sufficiency that caught our attention every time he faced each issue: he seemed to tell us "Do you want to know what rock is? Well, you're going to find out!"
As the closing of the festival, the performance of the Australian would gain more prominence for two reasons: for the desire to continue adding skittle strikes and because, although it sounds absurd, maybe that was the thread that united a 2017 almost perfect edition, without any denigrating failure And an interesting average between the regular and the attractive, in another words, more than remarkable..."
