THE ROB GARCIA 4 is a working group "among the vanguard of modern jazz" (NYC Jazz Record) since 2009. They have performed at such important venues as Smalls Jazz Club, The Iridium, Kitano, Cornelia Street Cafe, Firehouse 12, Brooklyn Jazz Wide Open, The Rex (Toronto), Jamboree (Barcelona), The Toronto Jazz Festival, The Kingston Jazz Festival (Canada) and the Ottawa International Jazz Festival. The group has released three critically acclaimed albums on Brooklyn Jazz Underground Records, Perennial (2009) and The Drop and the Ocean (2011), and The Passion Of Color (2014). The group will release their fourth album "Finding Love In An Oligarchy On A Dying Planet" in April 2016 which will include jazz legend Joe Lovano as a special guest as well as include regular band members Noah Preminger and Masa Kamaguchi.

ROB'S BIO:
“A prime mover in the current Brooklyn jazz scene” (Time Out-New York) and "one of New York’s great jazz drummers and composers.” (Capital New York), Rob Garcia continues to be a strong presence in the New York and international jazz scene as a sideman and bandleader. He has collaborated with such stellar artists as Joe Lovano, Dave Liebman, Wynton Marsalis, Diana Krall, Myra Melford, Joseph Jarman, Anat Cohen, Vince Giordano, Reggie Workman, Bill McHenry, and Wycliffe Gordon. He has played on over 40 albums including Grammy winners.

Rob has released 5 critically acclaimed albums as a bandleader. The most recent three are by his working group the Rob Garcia 4 featuring Noah Preminger and Dan Tepfer on Brooklyn Jazz Underground Records. His CD, “Perennial” (BJUR 012) was in the “10 Best Jazz Albums of 2009” in the New York Observer. His group has performed at venues such as Smalls Jazz Club, The Iridium, Kitano, Cornelia Street Cafe, Firehouse 12, Brooklyn Jazz Wide Open, The Rex, The Toronto Jazz Festival, The Kingston Jazz Festival (Canada) and the Ottawa International Jazz Festival. Rob has also received grants from Meet The Composer, DCA and NYSCA to support his performances.

Rob has also been a major force in artist-run jazz organizations. He is the founder and executive director of Connection Works, a member of the Brooklyn Jazz Underground and a founding member of the Douglass Street Music Collective.
