Straight outta the gutters of Graz/Austria blows a new voice unbearably load and not giving a fuck about it.
When Rival Cult set out to write songs for their debut EP “Kills” about a year ago, none of the members quite knew where they would be heading with it. What they knew, however, was that they wanted to go off their personal beaten tracks.
The outcome of their quest can stylistically be considered raw and jagged-edged riffing ala Gallows blended in with The Bronx styled choruses and a good portion of good old Trash-Metal coloured shredding. In a few words, Rival Cult sure as hell did not give single damn about staying true to just one genre of music.
Since their very beginning mid 2014 Rival Cult has played around 20 shows in their home base Graz/Austria without even having any music or media representation out to support their ventures. By doing so they marked themselves as an absolute term which just has to be considered and secured themselves a steady place in the Rock´n´Roll scene.
Musically as well as lyrically “Kills” is that one twisted dude your parents warned you about and you yet adored so much. It´s the tune to start a riot to, to say “I don´t wanna take a shot, I wanna take ALL of them”. Rival Cult means telling the world to fuck off and taking that whiskey and that cigarette for breakfast.
