– Issy Sampson (NME, Guardian)

Rambunctious indie rockers Return To The Sun are a Scottish band that know how to strike the chord of consistency. They hit the ground running and haven’t stopped in their two years together, releasing their debut 6 track E.P within 6 months of forming before taking it on tour around the UK, a tour that ended with them playing the main stage at the o2 academy in Glasgow. It was clear from the off-set that this was a band that knew how to write good songs, gaining praise from Radio legend Jim Gellatly who described their track, Into Days as “simply beautiful”.

Recently Return To The Sun received nationwide coverage when Jim Gellatly decided to write about them in his Scottish Sun column where he wrote, "The material I've heard so far demonstrates that they've certainly got what it takes to get to the next level". This statement is supported by the fact that their first and second single (501 and Freakshow) were selected respectively as XFM Breakout tracks of the week. The 3rd single, Haze is due for release this May.

2014 was an establishing year for the band. They toured around the UK twice to support their singles which were accompanied by two music videos that have now gathered over 4000 views. They also supported We Were Promised Jetpacks to a sold out show in PJ Malloys. They sold out two Edinburgh shows and one London show which brought them to the attention of the local media, garnering rave reviews for songs, videos and live shows. 2014 also saw Return To The Sun play their first music festivals in the shape of The Great Escape and Isle of Wight festival where they impressed across the board and have now been invited back to play both in 2015.

It’s hard to pigeon hole what Return To The Sun do and whilst unintentional, they like it that way, not paying too much attention to what the scene is doing and instead concentrating on making good music. Taking inspiration from bands such as, Cage The Elephant, Biffy Clyro, Peace, The Stokes, The Arctic Monkeys, The Manic Street Preachers and David Bowie, the band have developed a strong sense of melodic identity that lifts them head and shoulders above the pack.

“Heading on to bigger and better things, definitely one to keep an eye on” – James Santer, BBC Introducing.
