_press text A live act by Rest In Fear is pre-destined for a night to remember: energetic, full of of feverish excitement and amazing stories.

It is with no doubt a concert that will last for more than one night, not only because of the remarkable neck pain and a bunch of deep thoughts that the audience will take home.

The members of the band perceive their music as a center of a young and socially critical movement of contemplative individuals and understand their music as a counter-measure to both, naive depoliticization and the right-wing demagogic misuse of the musical youth culture.

Rest In Fear’s music is defined by catchy guitar and keyboard hooklines, a fast-paced second guitar and rock-influenced baselines. Another defining feature is the resolute rhythmic mix of vocals and drums, both of which range from traditional metal styles to progressive experiments. Their musical style is an amalgamation of the members’ individual musical influences, best pidgeon-holed as Melodic Death Metal.

Since 2009, Rest In Fear has been performing live in Austria and neighboring countries in various clubs and venues of all sizes and is now touring with their second LP “Shallows Deep” (G Minor Records).

_biography

Graz, 2007: It was the year when Eli and Thomas, bassist and guitarist, decided to start a band, and together with guitarist Valentin and singer Bo they commenced the history of Rest In Fear.

In the course of 2009 Roman joined with his keyboard, adding the significant electronic elements to the Rest In Fear Sound. Furthermore, Valentin brought in his brother Gerald as their new drummer leading the band to becoming more focused and efficient.

In 2011, they produced their debut album Insert Yourself. Positive feedback from the public followed soon, when they won Wacken Metal Battle AUT, as well as a band contest for performing at Metalcamp, both in the same year. They have been playing there every year since - at Metaldays 2014 they were the general opening act on the main stage, being booked again for 2015.

In 2013, the band organised the first of the annual Styrian Ball of Heavy Metal, showcase and networking show for local metal bands. Just then Willi joined as RIFs newest asset. Highly motivated and extremely focused, he pushed efficiency in the group to a new level.

In the same year, Rest In Fear signed up with the record label G Minor Records and produced their second LP “Shallows Deep” which was released in July 2014.

The band acquired some media attention recently when they were nominated for the Amadeus Austrian Music Award in the category ‘hard & heavy’.
