"Wow.

Soulful music, played with passion and incredible skill. This harkens to the best funk-jazz of the sixties and seventies and takes it to a new level. Think Headhunters for the new millennium."
Bob Power (The Roots, Erykah Badu, D'Angelo...) NY

"Resolution 88 ... this is an exciting young band from Cambridge who take their influence from the immensely important, barrier-breaking mid 70's funk jazzer Herbie Hancock & the Headhunters - they've come out of nowhere at the last minute! There's absolutely no-one around at all like these guys at the moment!"
Craig Charles (The Craig Charles Funk and Soul Show)

"Resolution 88 have gone with the ... influence of mid-70's Herbie Hancock and the Headhunters and do it in the most heavyweight, sincere and unique way."
Snowboy (Blues & Soul Magazine)

"Hunter gatherers they most definitely are and congratulations for bringing classic jazz funk back from the wilderness."
Emrys Baird (Blues & Soul Magazine)

“This band @thejazzmeet is frickin insane!!! I gotta get them @jazzrefreshed !!!!” (Adam ‘Rockers’ Moses on Twitter)

RESOLUTION 88 was started in 2012 as an original funk jazz project. Tom O'Grady was inspired by instrumental bands such as Herbie Hancock & The Headhunters and Kaidi Tatham, as well as having his heart set on centring the band around the sound of a suitcase Rhodes and other classic vintage keyboards. Their first ever performance featured on ITV News (East Anglia) and they have since supported the Grammy Award winning Snarky Puppy to a sell-out crowd at the Village Underground, Medeski Martin & Wood at Under the Bridge, as well as playing at prestigious nights such as Jazz Re:freshed at Mau Mau Bar (Jose James, Soweto Kinch etc) and The Jazz Meet at Floripa. Their début album (released in January 2014) was mixed by Dan Goldman aka JD73 (Morcheeba) and was mastered in New York by Bob Power (Erykah Badu, The Roots, Common, D'Angelo, ATCQ etc). It has received plenty of airplay around the world already; most notably Craig Charles' Funk & Soul Show on BBC Radio 6 and Jazz FM (both multiple times), along with their most recent release, 'Press Play' (a 3-track EP released in October 2014). Kaidi Tatham also produced a remix of the Resolution 88 track ('Broken Beat') that was inspired by his band and it was put out on limited edition 45rpm 12" backed with the original track - this remix has also had plenty of radio play. 2015 has already seen them touring in cities such as Oxford and Leeds and start work on new material for their next release. They played to a completely sold-out Pizza Express in Soho on April 2nd and a sold-out double bill with Kaidi Tatham at Ronnie Scott's on June 10th. They then put on their own gig at the Sebright Arms featuring the MC and saxophonist Soweto Kinch. During November 2015 they are headlining at the Cambridge Jazz Festival and supporting the famous US band 'The Blackbyrds' as they tour the UK. Resolution 88's second album is slated for released in May 2015.
