REND is a four piece, Canadian, electrifying alternative rock band.

Picture a dash of Muse, a layer of Metric, topped off with The Yeah Yeah Yeahs. When you listen to Rend you get a new experience with every song. You will hear driving rhythms, Zeppelin worthy guitar solos, synth pop hook lines, and dynamic, soulful vocals.

Rend: To tear apart so you are never the same again.

To put it simply this band wants to create music that inspires, excites, and stands apart. Their new single “Skin and Bones” showcases their unique alternative rock sound mixing soulful vocals with rhythmic loops, cinematic pulsing synth, gritty bass and electric guitar.

Since 2010 Rend has played countless shows and have honed a captivating and inspiring experience. Performing live is one of the most important aspects for Rend. Being able to let go, connect to the audience and make great music is their passion. To really understand what Rend is about one needs to come to a show and see the energy, musicality, chemistry and skill this band possesses.

PRESS QUOTES

“Rend is one of the best bands to come out of Canada…technical skill, strong instrumentals, and meaningful lyrics, not to mention truly awesome vocals that show off ridiculous range, power, and emotion. Lead singer Carol-Lynne Quinn is nothing short of remarkable, and her voice is easily one of the most powerful and impressive sounds to come out of Canada in the last decade.
Jenny Meister – Indie403

"I got the chance to see Rend perform live last month during Indie Week right here in Toronto, and I was blown away. Hailing from Edmonton, Alberta, Rend is the new hope for Canadian rock."
Nadia Elkharadly - Addicted Magazine

“Monumental pipes. A relentless drive. An ability to write songs anywhere,Quinn wanted more synths and more bombast — Muse is one of her muses — so Roe’s guitars are more searing than ever on the first single, Is It Just Me , while Plastic Flowers features strings and a choir of voices cascading over Jordan Dempster’s military drum beat. This six-song EP (Winter to Summer) is a major evolution from Rend’s 2012 debut, No Lines.”
Sandra Sperounes – The Edmonton Journal

“Just a couple months ago we reviewed the album “No Lines” by Rend that blended rock, a touch of pop and a vocal variety that would make other female artists think twice about performing. Now, slamming me in my face is their new EP “Winter to Summer”. I found each song to be rock worthy and deep down delicious. I can’t pick a favorite so just listen to them all, and when you do, crank the volume up”
Daniel C. Morrison – Hip Rock Magazine

“‘We kind of want to be different,’ says Quinn, who might just be the next great voice to come out of Canada.”“Together, the five make up (or perhaps unrend) Rend, one of Edmonton’s newest – and fiercest – pop-rock bands”
Sandra Sperounes – The Edmonton Journal

“I’m so thrilled that REND is bringing the electric guitar back to popular music.  That element is largely missing on Top 40 today, but REND’s urgent power chords & Carol-Lynne Quinn’s laid-bare lyrics are an intriguing remedy for that.  They are one of Edmonton’s most exciting bands.  Watch out, they’re on the rise!”.
