If it were up to Paris ≜ Texas they’d all be in Talking Heads, but since all spots are already taken, they’ll happily settle for the next best thing – a four piece indie disco outfit.

Hailing from different distant corners of the British Isles, they now call London home and are on a mission to bring catchy hooks, complex riffs, warm sounds, dance beats and some funk and slow jams thrown in for good measure, to dance floors across the capital.

Drawing inspiration from the brilliance of James Murphy, the electronic pop of Metronomy and pretty much any music where arpeggiators are at its core, they want to take the dark disco mantle and run with it. If Phillipe Zdar happens to come across this biog at any point, the message is crystal clear – they want you.

Lead singer Sophie Anderson (26) goes both ways – exuding a soft ethereal tone when ambience calls for it but switching seamlessly into powerful vocals that Karen O would be proud of. Backed up by keyboardist Adam Faulkner (27) on vocals, the pair follow each other’s melodic trails to produce a high and low contrast – a soft touch with plenty of passion best highlighted in newest single Jealousy – a floaty, funky and electronic journey accompanied by Factory Floor-esque synth. Lead guitarist Tim Stephens (26) will happily admit to being stuck in a tornado of 70s disco guitar, and if Nile Rodgers ever opened a music college, he’d be first in line. Bassist Joe Friel (27) can pretty much funkify any piece of music with nimble finger work reminiscent of Bernard Edwards.

Having supported the likes of Marshall Jefferson, Grey Matter, Alt-J(djs), Ben Pearce, Future Boogie, Kiwi (now on Duke Dumont’s label) across infamous venues across the capital – from Cargo, The Nest and Casa Negra, to The Book Club, Water Rats and The Islington – as well as writing the soundtracks for a London production of Twelfth Night and A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Paris ≜ Texas are ready to fill the next dance floor near you.
