Canadian electronic-pop trio, PARALLELS, conjures classic pop sentiments of neon nights with songs that transport the past into a modern context, just as grey fades into color on Polaroid film.

NME described front-woman, Holly Dodson’s vocals as ‘A young Madonna meet’s modern electro”. Echoes of this can be heard in the soundtrack of 2013 Oscar winning short-film “Curfew” featuring Parallels’ song, “Dry Blood” off of their debut album “Visionaries. Dodson, and her brother, drummer, Nick Dodson along with keyboardist Artem Galperine are currently back in Marigold Studios recording their third release set for 2015.

Since the band’s inception in 2008, PARALLELS has toured extensively covering thousands of miles bringing their collection of vintage synthesizers and lively HI-NRG rhythms from Toronto to LA, Moscow to Miami, New York to San Francisco and everywhere in between. After a whirlwind 36-date North American tour in 2013, PARALLELS was chosen by NXNE as one of the top 15 Alternative Artists to see at the annual festival in Toronto. The band has also been an electric presence at CMJ, CMW and El Paso’s Neon Desert Music Festival, and has shared billing with internationally-acclaimed artists such as Florence + the Machine, Crystal Castles, A-Trak, Glass Candy, The Juan Maclean and Broken Social Scene.

Their second album, XII, was manifested over the winter months of 2011, during late nights at Marigold Studios in Toronto. Subsequently, XII, was released in June 2012 independently through Marigold Productions, and shortly there after, reached #5 on Earshot’s National Electronic Charts in Canada. The album is a collection of moonlit radiance and sparkling pop, songs that “coo and shimmer with an indoor sunnyness, with the color of iridescent and strobe lights.” (Daytrotter, 2012).
