Orphan Boy hail from the unheralded seaside town of Cleethorpes, on the East coast of England.

Originally a three-piece (comprising Rob Cross Paul Smith and Chris Day) they moved to Manchester in 2005 and signed to independent label Concrete Recordings early the following year. After a series of well-received singles, they followed up their 2008 debut album Shop Local with performances at the Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party and Wickerman festivals and steadily built a cult following, christened the Orphanites, who became renowned for their fervent support at gigs, mainly across the North of England.
In 2010, Orphan Boy developed their style from the angular 'council pop' of their early years to coin another, more melodic sub-genre called 'lad art' with their follow up album Passion, Pain & Loyalty. Despite positive reviews (including 8/10 in NME) and continued support from DJs such as Steve Lamacq and John Kennedy, mainstream success eluded the band once again and in 2011, after a riotous 'final show' in their hometown, Orphan Boy went on indefinite hiatus.
Less than twelve months later, and with all of the band members now living back in Cleethorpes, Orphan Boy began writing and rehearsing again. They soon secured tour support slots with The Enemy and Babyshambles to re-ignite their ambitions, and recruited multi-instrumentalist Sam Carlton to expand their sound as a four-piece. This led to the 2015 album Coastal Tones, which saw the band touring the UK on the back of a plethora of great reviews, including 4/5 in Q Magazine. In the same year, Orphan Boy were approached by their local football team Grimsby Town FC to write the song 'Black & White (For You) to support the club's promotion push in 2014/15.
At present the band have recently finished touring Coastal Tones and are now looking to arrange dates and festivals for 2016.
