OKO was borne out of a number of collaborations at Bottlenote Festivals and concert series in 2010 and 2011.

The band features guitarist Shane Latimer, keyboardist Darragh O’Kelly, percussionist Shane O’Donovan and turntablist DJackulate.

The group improvise on skeletal compositions, drawing on a wealth of influences such as krautrock, vintage TV shows, free jazz, noise, ambient, dub, drum ‘n’ bass, dubstep, musak, hip-hop, IDM and more. Their music shifts from lush synth-drenched sculptures to tight hooks, loose grooves, robust scratching and liberated improvising.

Since their formation in 2010, OKO have become heavily involved in Dublin’s music scene and have played at various indie venues including Whelans, Grand Social, Workman’s Club & The Twisted Pepper. They have appeared at several festivals including Kilkenny Arts Festival, Bray Jazz Festival, Lunasa Festival, Down With Jazz, Galway Jazz Festival, Cork Jazz Festival and Electric Picnic. In August 2012, the band completed their first nationwide tour, performing in venues in Dublin, Cork, Sligo and Galway. OKO appeared at 12 Points 2013, a festival dedicated to showcasing the best in European Jazz and improvised music and at Match & Fuse festival in Oslo, Norway. OKO released their debut album, I Love You Computer Mountain, on Diatribe Records in March 2014.
