But the 2015 self titled release will be their first and it feels like they have finally found a solid foundation of five people as the band. Even if they sometimes are as many as fifteen on stage.
When we first heard about New Partner the rumor said the frontman and songwriter lived in a trailer out in the woods somewhere in the south of Sweden and that he very rarely was seen in town except for shows at local bars and clubs. And only occasionally he left Sweden to join bands going on tour in Europe.
We had heard a demo tape with two songs and really wanted see if there was more to be found. After numerous failed attempts to get in contact with him, we made the decision in spring of 2013 to go to Sweden to see if we could track him down.
With some help from people we know in Sweden we didn’t only find him in his trailer, we also managed convinced him to go into the studio to record.
We hired a studio in the city center of Malmö for two days. He showed up on time early saturday morning with his band and they recorded until late sunday evening. Ten songs, recorded live, vocals and all!
We had agreed to meet on monday morning before we had to head back home. But he never showed up.
Two months later, without hearing a word from him we received a package with the mixed master, the full album artwork and a note saying; ”Be prepared in mind. Be prepared in body. We are.”

New Partner’s music tends to be a mix of folk music and americana with a touch of country, but always with a feeling that everything might burst or collapse at any minute. The vocals are raw and ferocious, but at the same time tender and at the edge of tears. Sometimes whispering, sometimes screaming lyrics about dying fathers, lost and sorrow, hopes for the future and the longing for love. He once said; ”I don’t sing with my mouth, I shout through a hole in my chest”
