Netsuke are a Sydney-born alternative electronic trio based in London.

They take inspiration from Björk, Animal Collective and Sufjan Stevens amongst others to create unique, atmospheric pop,
marrying choral-influenced vocal harmonies with intricate electronic textures. As alumni of award-winning bands in Australia, they have previously shared the stage with acts such as Yeasayer, WHY?, Junip, Gold Panda, Xiu Xiu, El Guincho and Neon Indian, in addition to festival appearances at Mona Foma, Homebake, Parklife and Meredith Music Festival. As Netsuke, to date they’ve notched up performances for ATP (with Braids) and at the Great Escape Festival, as well as performances in New York at CMJ Music Marathon 2015.

After honing and finessing their sound as Netsuke in Sydney, Danny Keig, and Freya and Elias Berkhout packed up their studio and headed to London with an innovative & fully-realised body of
work. Since arriving in the UK in 2014, they have immersed themselves in the London music scene and realised their live show: a cinematic, audio-visual experience, featuring captivating, antiphonal vocals awash in a sea of drum machines, synthesisers and processed guitar.

Following the self-release of their debut singles Heliotrope and Mute (along with remixes by members of Seekae and PVT, and videos shot in the Australian outback and Tokyo), the band are gaining plaudits from the likes of Music Week, Noisey, Clash, Konbini, Purple Sneakers, the 405 and Indie Shuffle, amongst others. With a third single due before the end of the year, Netsuke are cementing themselves as one to watch as they look towards their debut album release in 2016.
