From an early age, her family affectionately nicknamed her “the little Pasionaria”. After a first group project, she felt she had to face up to her family past, and above all do it alone. Her songwriting and compositions are therefore marked by the rural Spain (Extremadura) her grandparents had to flee, and by these migratory tears.

Her words and melancholy melodies are therefore laden with all her family's ills. And yet, despite the nuclear bounce, she always sings through the prism of hope, the beauty of little things and sunny love.

Oscillating between New latin, folk and flamenco rumba, she draws inspiration from the poetry of the great traditional singers (Chavela Vargas, Violeta Parra, among others) and combines her love of bare, fragile and vulnerable songs with more Iberian rhythms. NENA is not afraid to display its poetic pain. It's her identity.

Chosen by Manu Chao to open for him in Liège in May 2023, the singer decided that it was time to turn a corner and enter the studio to produce her first solo project: “La raíz”. In november, she released “Canto a la luna”, a first single accompanied by a superb baroque video co-directed by the singer herself. In her music, as in all her visuals, NENA draws inspiration from the great figures of Spanish culture, such as Velazquez, Buñuel and Almodovar. In this track, composed like 2 songs in one in a melancholy progression, the singer recounts the violence of relationships in the form of a hypnotic lullaby. Following its release, the video was named one of the best clips of the year and screened on a giant screen at the prestigious Salle du Botanique in Brussels.

At the same time, the singer was a finalist in her city's Sphères sonores competition in the jazz/world category, as well as a finalist in the “Nouvelles écritures” call for projects (film center for music videos). All the signs are promising for a first project carried at arm's length by the singer, who composes, writes, directs visuals, produces and is her own manager.

The “La raíz” EP is released in March 2024 on all platforms, as well as on physical CD at a release party in Liège supported by the Fédération Wallonie Bruxelles. This support will enable her to produce a 14-track live show in full band, accompanied by Mohamed Dziri on flamenco guitar, Antoine Dawans on trumpet, Nicolas Puma on double bass and Antoine Rotthier on drums and percussion. A first sold-out concert, which will be the start of a tour with promising dates such as: Main stage at B3 for Nuit blanche contre listes noires (2,000 people) where she shares the stage with Fefe and David Walters, Les Polysons festival (busiest concert of the event), Eupen musik marathon, Paroles d'humains, and many others. A live show that doesn't go unnoticed, and that always provokes strong emotional reactions from the audience.

In December 2024, she was selected by the Belgian Worldwide Music Network from a large number of Belgian global music artists to perform a showcase at the Ancienne Belgique during Belgian Music Week, but her debut album “La raíz” was also nominated in the “Album of the Year - Audience Award” category. At the same time, the project is selected in the IN of Propulse 2025. A project that made quite a splash and enabled her to sign her first booking agency in January 2025 with Chouette asbl (Brussels).

Today, the singer continues to bring her project to life live in Belgium, while opening up her booking to Flanders and abroad. Rich from her first experiences, she is preparing for new ambitious challenges: the production of her second EP and the preparation of a tour of Colombia for spring 2026.
