Mowbird are a cosmic garage-punk quartet from Wrexham, North Wales.
Formed by Ben Dempsey Sawin (vocals/guitar) and Mike Smith (bass) with the later additions of Suzanne Dempsey Sawin (organ/vocals) and Ben Valentine Trow (drums/vocals), they self recorded and self released four EPs (Excellent, OK / Ilk / We Sell Maternity Swimwear / The Quiet Despair Of The Starship Enterprise) before signing to Cardiff based Shape Records.
Debut album Islander was released in February 2014, preceded by single Happy Active Horse Organ which garnered radio play by Huw Stephens (Radio 1), Bethan Elfyn & Adam Walton (BBC Radio Wales) as well as Tom Ravenscroft & Marc Riley (6music), the latter for whom the band recorded a session.
