Becky (lead vocals/keys/percussion), Louise (Vibraphone/backing vocals) and
Zands (Drum kit/hand percussion/backing vocals) met as students at the Guildhall School of Music.
After performing as session musicians with artists and institutions as far ranging as Lady Gaga,
The Royal Shakespeare Company, DrumChasers theatre show, and various London Orchestras
they formed their own band. The three London-based friends started Mountainear and released
their debut EP ‘Distant Camps’ in 2014. They were featured on Q Magazine’s ‘Five songs to hear
this week’, and God is in the TV likened their sound to a ‘celestial carnival haloed in heavenly
choruses’. Mountainear was launched with a sold out headline gig at The Islington, and has since
been regularly performing in London at venues such as Proud Camden, Sebright Arms, Water
Rats, and Roadtrip. They have been played on the Mark Forrest show which went out to every
regional BBC local radio station in the UK simultaneously and are regularly played on BBC
Introducing Jersey. Mountainear are soon to release their new single ‘Monuments’ and are
currently writing their second EP.
