Bring the Rain | Album | 2014 |
I returned to colorado and accidentally got smacked in the face by spirit of Townes Van Zand. 'Waiting Around to Die' left me feeling that there truely is a way for pure self exression. I always gravitated towards the rich, dirty and more melancholy sounds that swam past my ears. I picked up a guitar and started writing. I was far too scared to ever perform, and I never even considered it as I just wrote the songs for myself anyway, but from time to time I creeped into some open mics and watched from a distance and saw the beauty of sharing your spirit. I maintained a closet or "back porch" performer for a couple of years. until someone booked me a gig that I wasn't allowed to cancel. after performing I realized i'd just found what my spirit had been craving that I had finally achieved my way for pure self expression. I never intended to do anything with my material, but my friend Glen smith (who you can hear in the album) really put this album into motion by inviting me to his house to play with some recording equipment. he gave me the tracks and it escalated from there.
