Singer Ming (1985) is the songwriter and driving force behind Ming's Pretty Heroes.

After winning the Music Matters Award (whose previous winners include Sabrina Starke and Ntjam Rosie) Ming fulfilled the role of Music Ambassador for Rotterdam in 2011. The cash prize that accompanied the Music Matters Award was put towards the making of the album 'Karma' (2011).

That same year, Ming was asked to rework and rearrange music from 'Karma' especially for MEER RUIS, a modern dance production by Conny Janssen Danst. 2012 and part of 2013 saw MEER RUIS and Ming's Pretty Heroes touring more than 70 theatres in the Netherlands and Switzerland, as well as performing at Lowlands music festival and theatre festival De Parade. At De Parade they were awarded 'De Mus', the prize for the festival's best production as chosen out of 73 different acts.

Between these numerous live performances, Ming wrote the songs for forthcoming album 'Roots and Bones'. More than one hundred supporters pledged donations for the making of the album via crowdfunding platform 'Voordekunst.nl', while creative support came from yet another source. Renowned Dutch designer duo Viktor & Rolf revealed their admiration for Ming's music and lent their support by providing items from their collection for the photos for 'Roots and Bones'.

Accompanying the album is a cross-modal experience. Ming invited twelve artists to create visual works inspired by one of the twelve songs from 'Roots and Bones', the results of which will be presented in art magazine Roots and Bones Feat. The magazine will be on display during the month of March in Groos, Rotterdam.

'Roots and Bones', the third album from Ming's Pretty Heroes, will be released on March 7th, 2014.

The band has released two other full-length albums to date: 'Ok Mr. Mix' (2009) and 'Karma' (2011) and has toured through China and Germany among other parts of northern Europe.
