Over the course of its first two years, the band shaped its sound, first songs and line-up. Given its members' musical influences and preferences, the music morphed into a mix of old-school and modern progressive metal. However, the intent has always been not to put labels on the music, but to always keep an open door, an escape if you will, for experiments.
2014 marked the stage debut for Mindcage Escape at the 4th edition of the Black & White Motor Fest organized by the Chopper Academy MC Romania, followed by the Posada Rock 2014 Contest/Festival. The 3-song ‘Straitjacket’ EP has been recorded and released online in the same year.

In 2015, together with a new bass player onboard, the band performed for the first time in Bucharest, at the “Ce se intampla, rockere?” bands contest and reached the finals. As a following, in April, Mindcage Escape were invited to perform at Days Of Confusion’s “Dharkata” single and official music video release party and filmed the entire performance with GoPro cams (footage available on the band’s YouTube channel). In the same month, the boys honored Goodbye To Gravity’s invitation to perform at their 2015 comeback show and also returned to the world of bikers, at the Open Season Party, organized by the same Chopper Academy MC Romania. The month of May brought the band’s first festival appearance in 2015, at the Romanian Rock Meeting, a 2-day festival headlined by Blind Guardian.
