The melodies of Carl Nielsen, feat. Mads Vinding | Album | 2015 | |
Solo, Live at Copenhagen Jazzfestival | Album | 2014 |
Be it blues, soul, gospel, jazz, latin, world music…
”Elegant and effortless. Everything appears both spontaneous and well thought out at the same time. A unique piece of duo-art”. (*****, Kjeld Frandsen, the newspaper Berlingske Tidende)
"This is the way you can play around with the national legacy, if you are really gifted.”
(Middelboe, TV-channel DK4)
”A serious danish answer to Jazz in Swedish, the legendary album of Johansson”
(****, Ivan Rod, musicmagazine GAFFA)
These are just some of the many well established danish critics, who agrees on, that his latest album has got something extra special!
The gentle musical arrangements of Sunding combines the musical poetry of the great danish composer Carl Nielsen (1865-1931) with the cheeky attitude and fantasies of jazz. It’s ”Nordic cool”, but also warm, classic and heartfelt music, with big skies and roots deeply planted in the Scandinavian soil.
Live, the music can be played both as a duo with international top-of-the-draw danish bass player Mads Vinding, and as a solo concert on grand piano.
Soloconcerts with any combination of songs (a.o. from his first solo album), piano pieces and free improvisation are also possible!
His songs can also be performed with a funky, soulful trio!
