Stoned, caffeinated, highly functioning mad scientist Jesse Duplechain always felt like he had a lot to say and express while playing music which is why he settled on the persona Messej, it implies that there's something be said by the music.

It is not enough to hear it…you have to listen to it and experience it…let it take you. Experimental producer/guitarist Messej was born Jesse Duplechain in the Cajun cultured and voodoo laden deep swamp lands of South Louisiana where the music mosquito bit him and infected him with the insatiable urge of music by age 3. He started playing guitar by the age of 6…influenced by his father being a guitar player himself, and he took off from there the next few years being fueled by everything guitar and video games and playing in multiple bands. Furthering his musical palate even more so he attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette for Jazz guitar performance as well as doing classical. While attending the University he played in fellow jazz student’s high profile zydeco band Lil Nathan and the Zydeco Big Timers, co-founded his own experimental afrobeat group Uma Zuma, and co-founded an experimental gypsy jazz/prog rock group called Vagabond Swing. The following subsequent years saw a string of album releases from Lil Nathan and the Zydeco Big Timers featuring Jesse on the “Live at New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival” album. Vagabond Swing saw great success touring America from 2009-2014 and releasing two albums including 2011’s Soundtrack to an Untimely Death and 2014’s Cour des Miracles. Following Vagabond Swing’s hiatus in November 2014 he moved to New Orleans, LA for inspiration, to concentrate on learning music production, and to pursue a solo career unlike anything he’s done before. In October 2015 he moved to more electronic and experimental music friendly Berlin. A U.S.A. tour is in the works for Fall 2016 and a European tour for Spring/Summer 2017.
