"Punchy indie pop with the fire of a younger, female Frank Turner..." ~ Hannah Coles, Behind The Sound "Very talented and natural performer...strong charismatic presence" ~ Teenstar 2015 I'm Melissa Severn, a 17-year-old singer-songwriter originating from Telford, Shropshire.

I play guitar and I am also a vocalist; In July 2015, my debut EP "The Punch In The Gut" debuted at #28 in the ITunes Singer-Songwriter New Releases Chart. I performed in places such as Rugby, Coventry, Stafford and my hometown Shropshire to promote the EP.

I've been writing songs since the age of 12 and have been performing them ever since. I learned my stagecraft initially by performing on the Open Mic Circuit in Shropshire and then moved on to playing my first festival aged 16, T-Live, due to winning a slot by competing in a Battle Of The Bands competition (I won a 20-minute set at the festival, sharing the stage with bands such as Lawson and Union J.)

In 2015, I moved on to playing more festivals such as Folk On The Water, Newfest, The Big Busk and Woodfest. I've performed at venues in Birmingham also, courtesy of Subconscious Sounds LTD, as well as Stafford venues.

I was a 2015 Teenstar UK Grand Finalist and also an Open Mic UK 2014 finalist and thus performed at the NEC in Birmingham in both competitions, which were amazing experiences. I also won Singer Of The Year at 2014's Much Wenlock Live Arts Festival.

I'm thrilled to be a BBC Introducing Artist - I performed a live session in the studio for BBC Shropshire in May 2015 and my songs have been aired 18 times to date, 12 of those times being consecutive.

In 2016, I plan to perform at more venues and festivals as well as recording and releasing my second EP - "Lipstick." I have recently (in January 2016) won Best Female Singer-Songwriter in The Midlands Independent Music Awards (MIMA) 2016 and the ceremony will be held at The Drum, Birmingham in Spring.
