Their new single “These Days” features Chris Geddes of Belle and Sebastian on keys. The single produced by Tony Doogan (Mogwai, Carl Barat, Glasvegas) is a melody driven guitar soaring song about loves broken secrets
The band is named after Glasgow’s very own Franz Ferdinand’s hit song; “Matinee” and they are all friends after supporting them in Italy. The UK has embraced our Mediterranean friends with support from NME, Q and Jim Gellaty of XFM Scotland / Amazing radio is an official fan. Matinee were nominated for “Best International Act” on Amazing Radios Awards show and also played live at the very credible Station Sessions (The Guillemots , Ellen & The Escapades) at Kings Cross. Their new album to be released Decmber 8th on Glasgow's Neon Tetra Records was produced by Tony Doogan (Belle & Sebastian, Carl Barat, Teenage Fanclub, Super Furry Animals) which is already in agreement after he produced their current single: “City Lifestyle” and b-side “All the Good Fellas” in his Castle Of Doom Glasgow studio and the band have appl, ied for citizenship of their favourite city were they spend more time than their native Italy
Heading south the band played many key London venues including Death Disco (Creation Records; Alan McGee’s night) and the 100 Club. Matinee feel their roots are in 90s Brit pop but with a sprinkling of Italian glam rock thrown in for good measure. Their love of UK music shines through after support slots with Razorlight, Mystery Jets, The Futureheads, The Wombats, Pete and the Pirates and British Sea Power. The band will spend much of next year touring the record and intend visiting many cities and towns in the United Kingdom as possible ,to support the album and impending single in early 2015.
