Always an intelligent and unique songwriter, it's now been five years since Mat's debut EP 'To Being Free'. Inspired by and likened to James Vincent McMorrow, Nathaniel Rateliff and Woodkid, the EP quickly captured the hearts of many and drew the attention of some of the industry's finest tastemakers (The Line of Best Fit, Drowned in Sound, Clash, The 405).

What followed was an impromptu hiatus fuelled by burnout. It's taken until 2021 for Mat to fully rekindle his passion for songwriting, but he's now prepared with a fresh collection that documents a journey towards self-acceptance. These pertinent and honest recordings were made remotely before being expertly mixed by Paul Gregory (Lanterns on the Lake).

The promise of new music will come as a welcome relief for Mat's loyal admirers who have waited patiently for the next chapter. To come are a string of mature, impressive releases from a songwriter who's now truly hitting his stride. 2021promises to be bigger and brighter than ever.
