The band have been featured on BBC Introducing where they have gained regular airplay through various BBC Introducing shows, including two live sessions for BBC Shropshire. Acoustic guitar undertones, delicate ukulele highlights, full-bodied bass, energetic percussion and intricate surf-pop-high-life inspired guitar riffs provide the perfect backdrop for the distinctive voices of Luke Wylde and Toni Ansell.
The songs of Luke Wylde have been described as well-crafted, and, have a 'certain something' in the lyrical content and vocals that sincerely moves the listener. Brought to life by The Japes, the songs travel through various sub-genres; flirting with Californian surf pop riffs, experimenting with gypsy jazz evoking melodies and bouncing with indie pop guitars. 'Luke Wylde and the Japes' create a musical journey, accurate in rifling through all the elements of love; ecstacy, insecurity, heart-break and depression.
