Three acoustic instruments, three voices stubbornly creating the core of all music; Rhythm! Keeping it simple and raw, giving space for the entire sound spectrum of three exceptional soloists.
After years of playing in the award-winning band Schneeweiss + Rosenrot Lucia Cadotsch and bass player Petter Eldh (Django Bates Trio, Slavin/Eldh/Lillinger, Marius Neset Quartet, KILLING POPES) have founded a new working band with tenor saxophonist Otis Sandsjö (Farvel, Gothenburg Gadjos).
The three musicians explore classic songs from their own perspective, this way old songs are heard anew yet remain timeless:

"The special thing with this Trio is the long process doing these arrangements together right on the spot with the instruments. Learning a song, then start to kind of condense it, stripping it down in a way which also comes naturally with the instrumentation, zoom in on small details from the original arrangements, "sample" bits that we like and use them as material for the arrangement and for improvisation. The song is the core and everything we are playing, the whole arrangement comes from one specific song. We try to find the essence of each song, small bits that still can carry the whole song."

"We play futuristic rootsmusic with Nina Simone and Billie Holiday as our spacepilots. We left mother Earth, but her trillion-year-old vibe guides us while we float through the universe. Stars long gone still shine."

DIE ZEIT sees Lucia Cadotsch as one of the major protagonists of "the revival of jazz singing beyond the worn standards and singer / songwriters clichés ".

LUCIA CADOTSCH SPEAK LOW premiered at the Kollektiv Night Berlin in January 2015. They were quoted as a highlight of the XJAZZ Festival in Berlin 2015 and played at the Copenhagen Jazzfestival, as well as at Alto Adige Südtirol Jazzfestival last summer. Their Debut Album SPEAK LOW will be released on enja/yellowbird records in February 2016.
