Little Folk Vol.1 | EP | 2016 |
Little Folk have taken the above lyrics to heart, they are actively planning to reach out to a new and larger audience with the release of their new EP. Little Folk is comprised of Dewi Bowen (Vocals, Guitar, Bass Drum), Lucy Hannah Bowen (Vocals, Tambourine), Marc Bowen (Banjo), and Niall Rees (Bass Guitar) They have recently signed up with The Lost Agency to promote the single “Music City” off their debut EP, along with a new video for this song. They will follow up this release with a new single early in the new year and a second EP by the summer of 2017.
The new EP Little Folk Vol 1 features 4 songs which were written, recorded and produced by the band. To date they have received excellent feedback for the EP, with special mention to the quality of the lyrics and sound of the songs. Steve Tay of the magazine A Musical Priority said:
“Eleanor” Continues to prove that we really are in the company of greatness, this is a perfectly arranged song that simply has to be heard while “A Night Like This” ends this debut release in a very fine way, and this is only just the start”.
The song “Eleanor” was also selected by David Owens of Walesonline as one of his top 51 Welsh songs of 2015. “Eleanor” has also had airplay in Nashville and on radio stations such as Nation Radio, BBC Introducing and BBC Wales Jamie Owen show, as well as other UK radio stations.
On the gig front, Little Folk are looking to spread their wings and are concentrating on securing gigs outside the Principality. The most recent of these being at the famous The Water Rats venue in London where they supported the Irish band Rackhouse Pilfer.
This year has seen them play many summer festivals with positive feedback from the promoters and audience alike. They have supported a number of touring bands from around the world and were asked to play the RHS Flower Show and the Extreme Sailing Series event. After playing the Chapter Arts Centre they were approached by the radio presenter Chris Corcoran to play on his BBC Radio Wales show as the house band.
Based on a very successful year the bands mission is to continue writing original songs and performing to a wider audience up and down the country.
