Lilies on Mars is the abundantly creative and craft filled recording project of Lisa Masia and Marina Cristofalo, two multi-instrumentalist musicians.
Lilies on Mars is more than the music. They met as teenagers and their creativity fused firmly together early on. It's taken them on some incredible adventures.
Born and raised in Sardinia, Italy, a magical island in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. A place that recalls mystical legends and the strength of a population that has fought throughout history to keep traditions alive and never be fully conquered.
They moved to London in '00 to play music, but it wasn't until some years later that Lilies on Mars emerged. It was the result of many long nights spent listening to music and jamming with every imaginable instrument at our home studio in Hackney – from guitars to vintage organs, synthesizers, effects and drum machines.
Some highlights so far:
- Recorded and released 4 critically acclaimed albums
- Toured extensively in Europe and the US
- Collaborated with Italian pop icon Franco Battiato, Christian Fennesz, Tom Furse (The Horrors) Baba Sissoko, Sakamoto (Sublimis project), opened shows for artists such as Fanfarlo, Verdena, Vanishing Twin, Au Revoir Simone, Peaches, Chicks on Speed, Carmen Consoli, and more…
- Lauren Laverne and Steve Lamacq (BBC 6 music) recommended them as a band to watch in 2016.
Lilies have recently came back to live in Sardinia and found comfort and inspiration in a beautiful studio by the beach, where they have recorded their upcoming album.
