Laurent Coulondre belongs to this new generation of incredibly skilled musicians.

This 26 years old (originally) pianist got involved into the deep world of organ music. He features an old style feet bass playing while delivering a percussive and very dynamic hand play. His compositions reflect an idea of what jazz could be today, mixing a profound taste of swing music with contemporary influences such as only the rock scene may provide. If we had to match him with a prominent figure of this style we may think of Mark Guiliana. The hypnotic drumming of Guiliana melted with rough rock sounds is clearly a source of inspiration here.

Coulondre is frequently the call of the senior jazz scene in France (Nicolas Folmer, Pierre de Bethman, Sylvain Beuf), as well as a solid sideman with Flavio Boltro, Jesse Davis, Paul Jackson when touring in Europe.

He won the most prestigious Jazz contest in France in July last year (La Défense Jazz Festival national jazz award) and has been on the main stages last Summer at Jazz à Vienne, Jazz in Marciac, Paris Jazz Festival as well as newcomer in Tokyo Jazz Fest and London Jazz Fest.
